Youtube- OCR Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Students with SpLD - Course Information

The course comprises of four units. For the purposes of distance-learning the course will be arranged in the following way:
• Block 1 will cover Units 2 & 3;
• Block 2 will cover Unit 4;
• Block 3 will cover Unit 1.

The current fee is £2095 but places are limited and the fee will be reassessed after this.
The fee is paid in four instalments. The first instalment is a nonrefundable deposit of £500 paid on enrolment and includes the cost of registering with OCR. The second is paid at the start of Block 1. The third instalment is paid at the beginning of Block 2 and the third instalment at the beginning of Block 3. If you chose not to continue with either Block 2 or Block 3 then you will not be charged for them.

It will take a minimum of nine months to complete the course. This is based on approximately 15 hours of study per week. Candidates can choose to take longer than this and will have two years from the date of registration to complete the course. Beyond this time an additional fee will be charged.

Delivery will be via videoed lectures and handouts. These lectures will be sent out on hard drive, for viewing on a computer, at regular intervals and the handouts will be available from the course website. In addition to the information available on the course website you will be posted a set of handouts at the start of the course.

What is included in the fee:
• registration with OCR;
• initial pack of handouts;
• all teaching (videoed lectures on a portable hard drive );
• marking of assignments & feedback;
• reasonable access to 1:1 support via telephone or Skype;
• an optional networking day in Bromley, Kent;
• access to the course virtual learning environment (VLE) with additional reading materials, PowerPoint’s, interactive activities and discussion groups;
• postage costs associated with returning work after marking

What is not included in the fee:
• course books (approximate cost £80);
• postage costs associated with sending work for marking.
• additional tutorials, if required.

Candidates will need access to a reliable computer with DVD drive and internet connection.

Will the OCR Level 7 be offered as distance learning?
No, not at the current time .

What is I have a question regarding one of the lectures I have watched?
Once a month there will be an opportunity to phone a lecturer to ask questions on the lectures you have watched. This is in addition to the contact you will have with your tutor when you submit work.

Can I start before January 12?
We will send out the first batch of DVDs around the end of December but as soon as you have enrolled and the deposit is paid we will send you the course handouts and a password so that you can access the virtual learning environment and download further reading.

Can I join the course at any time?
Yes once the course is live in January 2012 candidates may join at any time during the year.
